Weihai Vocational College and Weihai Technical College are formed by four schools, namely Weihai Senior Technical School (a national key technical school) founded in 1958 and Weihai Education College founded in 1993.

Shandong Commercial Vocational and Technical College is a provincial-level vocational college approved by the Ministry of Education in 1999. Shandong Pharmaceutical and Food Vocational College was founded in 1958. The college implements dual leadership from the Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Food and Drug Administration, with the Shandong Provincial Food and Drug Administration as the main management system. Shandong Provincial College of Education was founded in September 1948 and is the earliest provincial education college established by our party. Heze Medical College is a provincial general higher medical institution founded in 1950, formerly known as Pingyuan Provincial Health School. In 1978, with the approval of the State Council, it was renamed Heze Medical College. In the process of over half a century of education, under the correct leadership of the higher authorities, the school has always adhered to the socialist direction of education, firmly established the purpose of teaching and educating people, and gradually formed distinct characteristics of education. The school is based in our province and radiates to the surrounding areas. Liaocheng University is a comprehensive university in Shandong Province. The school began offering higher education in 1958, formerly known as Laiyang Normal College. In 1961, it changed its location to Yantai and was renamed as Yantai Normal College. In 1984, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be renamed as Yantai Normal College. In 2006, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be renamed as Ludong University.

Jinan University is a key comprehensive university in Shandong Province. It has the right to grant bachelor's and master's degrees and enrolls students nationwide. One of the predecessors of the school, the former Shandong Institute of Building Materials Industry, was founded in August 1948. It is one of the four subordinate universities established by the former Ministry of Building Materials Industry in China according to regional distribution. In July 1998, the school was under the management of Shandong Province; The predecessor of the former Jinan United University was Jinan Normal College established in 1978 and Jinan Vocational University established in 1983; In October 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Shandong Institute of Building Materials Industry and Jinan United University merged to form Jinan University; In April 2001, the former Ministry of Civil Affairs Jinan Civil Affairs School and the former Shandong Provincial Material School were merged into Jinan University; In December 2007, with the decision of the People's Government of Shandong Province and the approval of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education, the master's degree authorized disciplines of the Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences were merged into Jinan University, implementing the integration of science and education.

Yantai University was founded in 1984. Under the care and guidance of former Vice Premier Wan Li and Honorary President Zhang Chengxian, and with the special approval of the former National Education Commission, Peking University and Tsinghua University jointly selected teaching, research, and management backbone to directly assist in the construction of the university, and requested the two universities to include support for Yantai University in their long-term work plans.
