China University of Petroleum is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a key university under the national "211 Project", one of the 56 universities with graduate schools, and a key university supported by the state to carry out the construction of the "Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform". China University of Petroleum (East China) is a general higher education institution jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the four major petroleum and petrochemical enterprise groups (China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petrochemical Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and China National Chemical Corporation), the Ministry of Education, and the People's Government of Shandong Province. Shandong Institute of Physical Education is the only independent higher education physical education institution in Shandong Province. It was founded in 1958 and was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a bachelor's and master's degree authorized unit in 1983 and 2003. In June and October 2005, it was awarded the qualification of one of the first pilot units for cultivating master's degrees in physical education in China and the right to grant first level disciplines for master's degrees in physical education.

Shandong Institute of Finance is an ordinary college of finance and economics co founded by the Ministry of Finance and the People's Government of Shandong Province. It implements a leadership and management system based on local management and co built by the central and local governments. The school was founded in 1986, and Comrade Deng Xiaoping inscribed the name of the school. The school is open to nationwide enrollment and is a master's and bachelor's degree awarding unit approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.

Shandong University of Economics, formerly known as Shandong University of Finance and Economics, was founded in 1952. It is the earliest financial and economic ordinary university established in Shandong Province and one of the earliest financial and economic ordinary universities in China. In 1978, it was renamed Shandong University of Economics and became one of the first units in the country to obtain the right to confer bachelor's degrees. In 1993, it became a master's degree granting authority unit. In 2009, it was confirmed as the authorized construction unit for the doctoral degree. After more than 50 years of development and accumulation, the school has now become an ordinary higher finance and economics institution with a focus on economics and management disciplines, and a coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as literature, law, science, engineering, and education. The school has a high level of education and a relatively large scale.

The predecessor of Linyi Normal University was Binhai Jianguo College, jointly founded by the Communist Party of China Binhai District Committee and the First Branch of the Anti Japanese University in May 1941. Afterwards, it went through development stages such as Binhai Public School, Linyi University, Shandong Education Cadre School, Linyi Normal College, and Linyi Education College. In March 1999, the Ministry of Education approved the merger of Linyi Normal College and Linyi Education College to establish Linyi Normal College. In September 2001, with the approval of the People's Government of Shandong Province, Linyi Industrial School and Linyi Agricultural School, formerly known as the Industrial and Agricultural Departments of Linyi University, were re merged. In December 2003, the People's Government of Shandong Province issued a document approving the establishment of Linyi Normal University

Mount Taishan Medical College, formerly known as the Loude Branch of Shandong Medical College, has run its own school since 1974. In 1980, it moved from Loude to Tai'an. In 1981, it was approved by the State Council and the People's Government of Mount Taishan Province and named as "Taishan Medical College". In 1998, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and became a master's degree granting authority unit. In 2004, obtained the right to apply for a master's degree award from individuals with equivalent academic qualifications. Over the years, the school has taken serving economic and social development as its own responsibility, inheriting tradition, working hard, and making significant progress in various aspects such as teaching, medical treatment, scientific research, and management. During the "Tenth Five Year Plan" period, the school firmly seized the strategic opportunity of structural adjustment and rapid development of higher education, made decisive decisions, and seized the opportunity to move forward. In 2002, nearly 3000 acres of land were requisitioned to build a new campus, which was listed as a key construction project in Shandong Province and Tai'an City. The construction of the new campus has significantly increased the school's educational resources, continuously expanded its scale, expanded its professional fields, and improved the quality and level of education and teaching. In 2006, it was rated as an excellent university in the undergraduate teaching level evaluation by the Ministry of Education.
