• Beijing Radio and Television University

    Beijing Radio and Television University was established in 1960 and is one of the earliest television universities in China. Wu Han, a renowned historian and vice mayor of Beijing, also served as the first president. At that time, the school had five departments of mathematics, physics, chemistry, Chinese and English and preparatory courses. By July 1966, a total of over 6000 college graduates had been trained, with over 36000 individuals completing a single subject. During the Cultural Revolution, schools were forced to close. In 1978, Comrade Deng Xiaoping approved the establishment of the National Radio and Television University, and in 1979, Beijing Radio and Television University resumed its operations. In 1997, Beijing Radio and Television Vocational School was merged into Beijing Radio and Television University.
