Site Description: Zhejiang Ocean University is located in the urban area of Zhoushan, the "Thousand Island City" on the coast of the East China Sea, adjacent to the international metropolis of Shanghai, the international port city of Ningbo, and the "Sea Sky Buddha Kingdom" of Putuo Mountain. The school was founded in 1958 and was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council in 1982 to obtain the qualification of one of the first batch of national bachelor's degree authorized units. In 2005, it obtained the qualification of a master's degree authorized unit. It has now developed into a provincial-level university with ocean characteristics and interdisciplinary development such as science, agriculture, engineering, literature, management, economics, and education.
