Site Description: Northwestern University was founded at Shaanxi University in 1902, and was renamed as Northwestern University in 1912. In August 1923, it was renamed as National Northwestern University. After the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War in 1937, National Beiping University, National Beiping Normal University, National Beiyang Institute of Technology, and others moved to Shaanxi to form the National Xi'an Temporary University. In 1938, it was renamed National Northwest United University, and in August 1939, it was renamed National Northwest University.
