Established in 1956, formerly known as the Nanchang Highway Engineering School of the Ministry of Transportation, it was upgraded to Jiangxi Jiaotong University in 1958 and renamed as Jiangxi Provincial Jiaotong School in 1973. In 1984, it established Jiangxi Jiaotong College and was upgraded to Higher Vocational and Technical College in 2002.
