Three Bitcoin wallets have been idle for 6 years and now transfer $230 million in BTC

According to BitInfoCharts, the first wallet transferred 2550 BTC, estimated to be worth $90 million. The second address transferred approximately 2000BTC, valued at $71 million, while the third address transferred approximately 1950BTC, valued at $69 million

According to BitInfoCharts, the first wallet transferred 2550 BTC, estimated to be worth $90 million. The second address transferred approximately 2000BTC, valued at $71 million, while the third address transferred approximately 1950BTC, valued at $69 million.

These three wallets also have some commonalities: the last transaction of each wallet occurred almost six years ago, on November 5, 2017. Therefore, these wallets have been dormant throughout the rise in Bitcoin prices and historical highs exceeding $69000. The majority of Bitcoin in the three whale wallets can be traced back to July 2011 and is associated with F2Pool (a Bitcoin mining pool), indicating that it may have been accumulated through early Bitcoin mining. When the transaction price of Bitcoin is below $15, three wallets hold Bitcoin.

Although wallet history and transaction patterns indicate that this is possible, it has not been confirmed whether all three wallets belong to the same person or entity. Just a few days after the BTC price hit an annual high of over $35000, the Bitcoin Whale address holding the BTC since 2011 has recently changed.

In 2023, many Bitcoin whales and over a decade old addresses will awaken from hibernation and transfer BTC to new addresses. In early July, a wallet that had been idle for 11 years transferred $30 million in BTC, and a month later in August, a Saotshi era wallet transferred 1005 BTC to a new address.
