According to a recent tweet from core developers, the Dogcoin project will undergo a major upgrade. This update will introduce new features and improvements aimed at making popular blockchain more user-friendly and available to non developers.
One of the main new features in the upgrade is support for BIP39 seed phrases. This feature will enable users to generate mnemonics to protect their private keys. In addition, this update will support the generation of mnemonics in multiple languages.
Another noteworthy enhancement is comprehensive support for BIP32/44 and SLIP44HD (Layered Deterministic) addressing. This allows Dogcoin to correctly derive keys and addresses based on their respective rules, and generate sub keys/addresses to enhance security and organization.
The upgrade will also introduce QR code support, making it easier for users to share their dog coin addresses. Blockchain will be able to generate QR codes in text, JPEG, and PNG formats without the need for additional libraries.
Message signing is another new feature of Dog Coin. Users will be able to sign messages and transactions and verify them, further enhancing the security of the network.
This update will also simplify dependencies and improve support for building on Windows using MS Visual Studio 2022 and CMAKE. In addition, developers can now query the logo to check if Dogcoin has network functionality.
Finally, Dogcoin will now provide users with the current lunar phase Unicode, allowing for creative application of this interesting feature.
There have been many fixes and enhancements in this upgrade, including memory integrity checks, truncation fixes, length checks for edge conditions, and updates to Go and Python wrappers. In addition, the Dogecoin team has updated its CI workflow and added many quality assurance improvements.
As the project continues to evolve while maintaining its lightweight and cross compatible features, the Dogcoin community can look forward to more exciting developments in future updates.
